Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: Perfect place to stay in Bald Sayt — it’s right in the centre of the village, unlike the other options that are a ~20 min walk away, so you really feel like you’re living in the town. The room is very new, modern, clean and beautifully simple, with great little facilities (super handy since there aren’t many restaurant options), plus nice coffee and welcoming fresh Omani dates. The host was incredibly responsive and helpful — we even got stuck about an hour away and he immediately arranged a car to come and get us. Honestly above and beyond. We just regret we didn’t stay longer.

Negative: The only minor downside was the chickens making noise during the night. But it’s part of the authentic village experience — I’d just recommend bringing earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.

Summary: A modern, spotless room in the heart of Bald Sayt with an exceptionally helpful host — we wish we’d stayed longer.
